Fair Winds & Following Seas Cmdr. Tom Younghans!

Congratulations to Commander Thomas J. Younghans retiring after 20 years in United States Navy.

Thanks to the following Knights who attended:

  • SK Randall Barrera
  • SK Rick Foust
  • SK Damien Carvalho
  • SK Tom Sheehan

SK Damien says:

Brother Tom, thank you for your service. God Bless you and your family!!

SK Damien says:

SK Damien says:

“It was honor to join in the ceremony and see brother Tom’s Amazing career. Sense of sadness in the air, but it was great to see how his entire family was honored even down to the very last new baby. Tom and his family captures the essence of a Catholic family. The size, strength and devotion of Tom Beatrice and the children give me great optimism for our country and our Catholic faith. I will be sad to see them go to Nebraska, but I know it’s the next chapter of their wonderful life. people that surround them in Nebraska will have a great opportunity to see all that we have seen and felt by this family. I hope he comes back and helps us with the fish fries if not, we’ll see him on vacation. He mentioned to me that he has trailer hook ups just FYI guys. I’m sure here will require tractor work bailing hay, and the like. So long, Brother, Tom, Fairwinds, and calm seas.”

From SK Randall:

“It truly was a moving ceremony, especially with his daughter, singing the national anthem. “

From Brother Marvin:

“Bravo Zulu Brother Tom! You will surely be missed but not forgotten. Remember that you will always have brothers in Texas.”

Prayers of Thanksgiving for James!

Let's continue to pray for his ongoing recovery!

After 408 days in the hospital, our warrior is home. He left the hospital on Feb 10th.

He survived 3 open heart surgeries, going on ECMO twice, 352 days of being on a Berlin, 3 months of wound care, respiratory failure, a stroke, seizures, and so much more than words could begin to express… He made it. He is the face of resilience.

His journey, of course, is not over, but this other side is filled with so many privileges and the beauty of being a child and a family.

He is still on 14 medications, NG feeds, is going to weekly appointments, and travels everywhere with an emergency seizure medication. If he runs a fever or gets a stomach bug, He has to be re-admitted to Dell to manage it safely.

"The risk of complications in the first year remains ever present, but we’re taking it one step at a time and cherishing the beauty of each day. Life really is all about the little things. All because of our donor and their selfless family. Without them, James’ life would not be possible."
